Pints for Parkinson’s 2018

Pints for Parkinson’s 2018

Pints for Parkinson’s is an annual fundraising event held by the Brian Grant Foundation. Back for it’s third year, it aims to help support the foundation’s efforts in providing tools to improve the well being of people with Parkinson’s. Pint Passports are available for $25 at participating locations, good for 10 pints through the months of April and May.

If you aren’t familiar with Brian Grant, he’s a former NBA basketball player who spent his time in Portland from 1997-2000. He was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s in the mid-2000’s. I’ve enjoyed watching Blazer games with my dad over the years, but most fondly remember the late-90’s when Grant was a part of the team. It wasn’t uncommon for people to wear headbands that resembled his iconic dreads.

As part of the kick off party, I was able to meet Grant. It was a major fan girl moment for me, especially when we got to cheers a beer. He’s truly passionate about incorporating the community to his cause, and to see him reach out to the beer world is pretty cool.
