Well hello, January 2019. Have you recovered from the Holidays? I’m almost there, and I think drinking boozy barrel-aged beers over several weekends might do the trick. Plus, I miss my beer friends!
Below you’ll find a selection of events happening around Oregon. This list has been curated by me, and in no way covers ever single event going on throughout the month.

When: January 17th, 2019
Entry: Free, pay as you go
What’s cool? Aslan beers on tap that have not yet been available in our region.
Wolves & People 1st Annual Winterfest
6th Annual Dark Days Winter Ale Fest
When: January 19th, 2019 from 2-10pm
Where: Mazama Brewing
What’s cool? Winter styles from a variety of Oregon breweries + more rare Mazama brews. It’s a great brewfest to serve the area.
4th Annual Barrel Aged Beer Fest and Axe Throwing
When: January 25th-27th, 2019 from 12pm-12am
Where: The Civic Taproom and Bottle Shop
Entry: Free, Drink tickets are $2 each or 12 for $20
What’s cool? A slew of interesting barrel-aged beers available in a range of tasting sizes. Also, AXE THROWING.
6th Annual NW Coffee Beer Invitational
When: January 26th, 2019 from 12-7pm
Where: Goose Hollow Inn
Entry: $20 for 10 tickets & festival glass
What’s cool? 20 coffee themed brews, made just for this festival. Live music + savory bites to compliment the experience. Plus, the entries will be judged!
Bailey’s Taproom 10th Annual Cellarfest
Beer School at Belmont Station
When: January 26th, 2019 from 1-6pm; Session 1: 1-3pm, Session 2: 3:30-6pm
Where: Belmont Station
Entry: $60, $75, or $115 for both sessions
What’s cool? Two different educational sessions led by Master Cicerone and Brewmaster Rich Higgins. You’ll get a chance to learn about off-flavors, the Deductive Beer Tasting method, or both!
Barrel Aged Beer Festival hosted by Rock Bottom Brewery
When: January 26th, 2019 from 1-5pm
Where: Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery
Entry: $35 for 10, 4oz tastes, souvenir glass, appetizers, and a tour
What’s cool? Rock Bottom is bringing back all of their barrel-aged beers to be tried in one sitting. Besides tasting beer, get a guided tour from Brewmaster Todd Britt. Their brewing space is funky, you’ll be delighted to see it.
3rd Annual Holiday Hangover
When: January 26th, 2019 from 1-7pm
Where: Hood River Elks Lodge #1507
Entry: $20-$25 for a glass + 10 tickets
What’s cool? This event is hosted by the Breweries in the Gorge, offering multiple brews from each location. I went to this last year, and had a blast! Tasty beer, food, and a DJ.
5th Annual Salem Winter Brewfest
When: January 30th, 2019-February 2nd, 2019; 4-10pm Wednesday, 4-10pm Thursday, 4-11pm Saturday, 11am-11pm Sunday
Where: Oregon State Capitol Building
Entry: Free-$25, pricing differs per day and is cheaper when purchased in advance
What’s cool? Beer, cider, live music, and a great view.
Harry Potter Inspired Beer Festival
When: February 1st & February 15th, 2019 both SOLD OUT
Where: Castaway Portland
What’s cool? Ummm, do I even need to tell you why this is cool??? The live music is from DJ Dumbledore and the Slytherin Sisters. Hogwarts-styled hangouts. Holiday themed beers. Adult Butter Beer!
