Fresh Hop & Oktoberfest Celebrations 2018

Fresh Hop & Oktoberfest Celebrations 2018

Fall beer events are something I look forward to all Summer. They coincide with a change in the weather, as well as a shift in beer styles. Hop harvests began two weeks ago in the Willamette Valley, spurring the beginning of fresh hop beer season. Brewers have been picking up boxes right from the farms, and often add the hops to their brews the very same day.

September is also the month for Oktoberfest celebrations, a Bavarian tradition that originated in Germany in the 1800’s. In Oregon, Oktoberfest is celebrated over the last couple weekends of the month, with the most prominent festival happening in Mount Angel.

Below you’ll find an outline of the events going on over the month, a list I’ve curated based on my own experiences. I hope you find it helpful! Prost 🍻
