Wayfinder Beer ⭐️

Hours: 11:30am-10pm Sunday-Thursday, 11:30am-11pm Friday & Saturday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Full restaurant

Besides being my personal favorite on this list, most of those polled responded similarly. Wayfinder Beer’s 2,000 square-foot patio sits above street level, giving it a nice feeling of exclusivity. It has a variety of seating, making it ideal for large groups, sitting down for a meal, or casually sipping on a pint. A central fire pit makes it cozy as the temperatures drop, and umbrellas come out during the warmest months to provide shade. Order a beer inside only if you’re not sitting at a table.

Little Beast Brewing Beer Garden ⭐️

Best Portland Brewery Patios Little Beast Brewing

Address: 3412 SE Division St, Portland, OR 97202

Hours: 12pm-10pm Sunday-Monday & Wednesday-Thursday, 12pm-11pm Friday-Saturday, Closed Tuesday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Full restaurant

Little Beast Brewing’s outdoor patio relies on a covered, heated porch during the colder months, and expands to nearly the entire yard during the summer. Shaded & partially shaded picnic tables are accompanied with barrels that you can stand around. The lawn might be the most pleasant aspect though. You can check out a blanket from the bar or bring your own. There are a few seats on the front porch as well, a great place to watch the activity along Division Street from a safe distance.

Gigantic Brewing ⭐️

Best Portland Brewery Patios Gigantic

Address: 5224 SE 26th Ave, Portland, OR 97202

Hours: 3pm-9pm Monday-Wednesday, 2pm-10pm Thursday-Friday, 12pm-10pm Saturday, 12pm-9pm Sunday

Family friendly? No | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: 808 Grinds Hawaiian Food Cart, Closed Sunday

When I asked my followers about their favorite brewery patios, Gigantic Brewing was one of the top contenders. It wasn’t for the view, but rather the community atmosphere. Many picnic tables occupy the front patio, with large umbrellas to cover from the harshest of sun. When I stopped by recently for a visit, I was happy to find that their back room opened up to the outside as well. Consider Gigantic a hidden gem, if you will, as it’s location is a bit unexpected.

Base Camp Brewing

Best Portland Brewery Patios Base Camp Brewing

Address: 930 SE Oak St, Portland, OR 97214

Hours: 12pm-10pm Sunday-Thursday, 11am-12am Friday-Saturday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Poblano Pepper, Wild North & Sherpa Kitchen Food Carts

Besides having some of the most exciting food carts in town, Base Camp Brewing has one of the largest, most versatile patios. It’s covered during the colder months, heated with overhead heaters and small fire features. The cover comes off this time of year, accentuating the view of the stars with twinkle lights and colorful streamers. I highly recommend biking over.

Rogue Eastside Pub & Distillery

Best Portland Brewery Patios Rogue Eastside

Address: 928 SE 9th Ave, Portland, OR 97214

Hours: 11am-11pm Sunday-Thursday, 11am-1am Friday-Saturday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Full restaurant

Rogue’s Eastside Pub & Distillery went through a major redesign a couple years ago when they changed the name from Green Dragon. What was once a SE-styled mishmash of patio elements (like a green house you could drink in), is now a boldly Rogue-branded space. If you vibe with the word “revolution” and enjoy loud paint colors, this is the place for you. It has a variety of seating and plenty of it.

My favorite are the rows of casual Adirondack chairs lining both sides of the corn hole area. Multiple fire features are available to keep you warm as the sun goes down. Bring a big group here, for sure. The only bottle neck was the ordering station inside, but there is an outdoor beer station for when business picks up. What’s really nice about this space is that even though it’s right on a busy street, the wooden fence creates a sense of privacy.

Northeast Portland

Level Beer ⭐️

Best Portland Brewery Patios Level Beer

Address: 5211 NE 148th Ave, Portland, OR 97230

Hours: 11am-9pm Sunday-Thursday, 11am-11pm Friday-Saturday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Flor de Guelaguetza, Bam Pow! Burgers, and Gyro King Food Carts

Level Beer really outdid themselves last summer when they started to use their back patio in addition to their front. Is it a bit greedy of them to have two amazing outdoor spaces? Nah. The old greenhouse attached to the building has been converted to a year-round patio, complete with heaters and a corner with entertainment for the kiddos. Around the back of the building you’ll find another set of beer taps, as well as ample seating and grass. Bring your dog, let your kids run around, frolic through the rows of hops. Do whatever you need to do to, just get there.

Level Beer Backyard Beer Garden

Migration Brewing ⭐️

Best Portland Brewery Patios Migration Brewing

Address: 2828 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR 97232

Hours: 11am-11pm Monday-Saturday, 11am-10pm Sunday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Full restaurant

Migration Brewing is known for their sun-filled patio, and it’s generally well populated with humans and doggos alike. Booths line the perimeter of the space, otherwise you’re sitting communally at picnic tables. Order inside at the counter, and expect a little bit of a wait. I suggest getting a pitcher to keep the beer flowing adequately.

Von Ebert Brewing – East

Best Portland Brewery Patios Von Ebert East

Address: 14021 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR 97230

Hours: 11am-10pm Sunday-Thursday, 11am-11pm Friday-Saturday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Full restaurant

Von Ebert opened their second location smack dab in the middle of the Glendoveer Golf Course last summer, in what used to be the Ringside Grill. The spot came with two patios spaces: One is larger and covered, and the other more narrow with umbrellas for shade. Each has a splendid view of the the golf course and all activity associated with it. I’m most happy with the amount of green surrounding the building (unintentional golf joke). You can also play corn hole adjacent to the larger patio if you’d like.

Montavilla Brew Works

Best Portland Brewery Patios Montavilla Brew Works

Address: 7805 SE Stark St, Portland, OR 97215

Hours: 3pm-9pm Tuesday-Thursday, 3pm-10pm Friday, 12pm-10pm Saturday, 12pm-8pm Sunday, Closed Monday

Family friendly? No | Dog friendly? Service Animals Only

Food: None

Montavilla Brew Works is a friendly, neighborhood spot with a modestly sized brewery patio. The space is nicely shielded from the busy street, and a pleasant area to sip on a pint. Several picnic tables occupy the space, with umbrellas for shade. When it gets really hot, the misters come out. On a 95 degree day, that’s what makes all the difference.

Baerlic Brewing Barley Pod

Best Portland Brewery Patios Baerlic Brewing Barley Pod

Address: 6035 NE Halsey St, Portland, OR 97213

Hours: 12pm-10pm daily

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Several Food Carts

At the Barley Pod, Food Carts are circled like wagons around the Baerlic Brewing Beer Hall. Within that circle are multiple seating areas: Indoors, uncovered picnic tables, and tent covered picnic tables. The tent has walls and is heated throughout the colder weather, and when things warm up they’re removed. The Barley Pod is located near a busy intersection, and always seems to be buzzing around dinner time. It’s a quick walk over to Rose City Park, be sure to take advantage.

North Portland

Ecliptic Brewing

Best Portland Brewery Patios Ecliptic

Address: 825 N Cook St, Portland, OR 97227

Hours: 11am-10pm Sunday-Thursday, 11am-11pm Friday-Saturday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Full restaurant

At the southern end of Mississippi Avenue, you’ll find Ecliptic Brewing nestled between several apartment developments. The neighborhood has truly grown around them, but you can still see a bit of Downtown Portland from the patio. There are two sections to the outdoor space, the larger covered with a tent in the winter months. During the nicer weather, they switch it out for brightly colored umbrellas. Pair your beer with some of the best brewery food in Portland, you won’t be disappointed.

StormBreaker Brewing

Best Portland Brewery Patios Stormbreaker

Address: 832 N Beech St, Portland, OR 97227

Hours: 11am-10pm Sunday-Monday, 11am-11pm Tuesday-Thursday, 11am-12am Friday-Saturday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Full restaurant

I wish there were a way to easily photograph all of StormBreaker’s patio, but there really isn’t. They’ve added sections to it over the years, giving it a nice sense of variety and seclusion from Mississippi. There are two fire features, covered and uncovered picnic tables, high seating, low seating, and a corn hole area. How they managed to cram all that in there I will never understand, but it works. Of all the brewery patios, this is probably the most versatile from day to evening. Plus, they’re pretty welcoming to doggos.

Stormbreaker St Johns Patio
Brewery Patio Honorable Mention goes to StormBreaker St. John’s, which has a large covered space that occupies the front corner of the building. Read more about this location.

Hopworks North Williams Pub & Beergarden

Best Portland Brewery patios Hopworks North Williams

Address: 3947 N Williams Ave, Portland, OR 97227

Hours: 11am-11pm Sunday-Thursday, 11am-12am Friday-Saturday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Full restaurant

Up until recently, this brewery patio was a bit crammed with tables and chairs. After a recent remodel though, the flow is much better. One large cover with skylights takes care of shading the space now. There’s an area for kiddos to play, and some extra greenery on the walls. Heaters are there for you as the sun goes down too.

Northwest Portland

10 Barrel Brewing

Best Portland Brewery Patios 10 Barrel

Address: 1411 NW Flanders St, Portland, OR 97209

Hours: 11am-11pm Sunday-Thursday, 11am-12am Friday-Saturday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? No

Food: Full restaurant

10 Barrel’s patio has one of the better rooftop experiences in the city. It’s made complete with a great view, plenty of sun exposure, and seating for groups of all sizes. The space is split between two sections: 21+ and all ages. This makes for easy work happy hours, as well as a fun family atmosphere. The patio closes an hour before the downstairs restaurant does, something to keep in mind before you arrive.

Breakside Brewing Slabtown

Best Portland Brewery Patios Breakside Slabtown

Address: 1570 NW 22nd Ave, Portland, OR 97210

Hours: 11am-10pm Sunday-Thursday, 11am-11pm Friday-Saturday

Family friendly? Yes | Dog friendly? Yes

Food: Full restaurant

The Slabtown neighborhood has been under construction for years, which really irks me when trying to find parking. Like Ecliptic though, Breakside Brewery offers a nice reprieve from all the noise going on around it. The patio is covered during part of the year, and gets plenty of sun. Feel like being more casual? Hang out by the barrels next to the main patio space and soak in their massively colorful mural.

Note: There doesn’t necessarily need to be brewing equipment on-site to qualify for this list. All recommendations are of my own personal opinion and not sponsored by anyone.
